A Group of Assorted Fungi in Yew and Rhododendron

Height to approximately 10cms

I normally use branches which have been pruned from garden trees by arboriculturalists. These small-diameter branches are cut into short lengths, the ends sealed with pvc adhesive (to slow down the drying process, thereby reducing the risk of splits in the wood), and left in a box in the loft for about a year, by which time they are seasoned well enough to put on the lathe and produce a new crop of weird and wonderful toadstools and mushrooms!

Occasionally, I get a bit carried away whilst making one, and will spot the likeness to a genuine species of fungus - it then becomes a test to see how realistic I can make the finished piece!
